Cornell Eyecare Group practices are Portland’s premier Optometry and Optical destinations. Our practice focuses on providing high-quality care for each and every patient that walks through the door.  We have developed a team of exceptional A-players who are friendly, easy to work with, and respectful to one another. Our practice receives a lot of visits from professionals and families. We see approximately 80% comprehensive exams and 20% medical exams which provide a nice mix for our doctors during their work-day. We have receptionist, optician, and tech on staff to help streamline the patient experience, and provide you with additional resources that allows you to focus more of your time on delivering exceptional patient care.

Optometrist Job Duties & Responsibilities

We are searching for a talented OD to join our growing practice! You'll use your clinical and interpersonal skills to provide high-quality vision care to our patients. The ideal OD candidate is committed to delivering quality patient care and is eager to learn and develop their clinical skill set. 

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly
  • Understands the business of optometry
  • Wants to create and implement treatment plans
  • Understands how to make recommendations and provide the patient with all their eye care options during the exam.

Your regular duties will include:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams
  • Diagnose and assist in the treatment of ocular disease
  • Prescribe corrective lenses
  • Promote healthy vision by counseling and educating patients
  • Maintain detailed patient records regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress

Optometrist Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
  • Valid state license to practice optometry
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of patient personalities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics
  • Customer-service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills
