About Our Practice

Desert Ophthalmology is a doctor-owned & operated private practice providing expert eye care to patients throughout the Coachella Valley from our two locations in Palm Springs and Palm Desert. Our two board-certified ophthalmologists have over six decades of combined experience and are currently supported by a staff including a highly skilled technician and optician as well as our front desk administrator. 

We treat each patient like family, provide customized exams and services and give each individual our personal and undivided attention. Our team is committed to going above & beyond patient expectations by providing high-quality contact lenses & glasses and improving their eye health by treating conditions ranging from dry eye and chalazion to cataracts and glaucoma.

Our offices are located in beautiful locations that both have a great sense of community. The nearest big cities are Los Angeles and San Diego and are just a short drive away. There are plenty of activities to keep busy in both Palm Desert & Palm Springs like Golf, tennis tournaments, hiking through nearby national parks or just exploring the nearby mountains.

Optometrist Job Duties & Responsibilities

We are searching for a passionate optometrist to join our growing practice! You'll use your clinical and interpersonal skills to provide high-quality vision care to our patients. The ideal OD candidate is committed to delivering quality patient care and is eager to collaborate with team members while also working independently throughout their day.  

Your regular duties will include:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams
  • Diagnose and assist in the treatment of ocular disease
  • Prescribe corrective lenses
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care to surgical patients
  • Promote healthy vision by counseling and educating patients
  • Maintain detailed patient records regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress
  • Handle eyecare emergencies

Familiarity with our tech is a plus! We utilize iMedicWare as our EMR. We invest in state-of-the-art technology and equipment and a handful of new devices in house including: 

  • Zeiss Visual Fields 
  • OCT camera  
  • Auto Refractors  
  • Topographer 
  • Lensometer  
  • Slit lamps

Optometrist Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
  • Valid California state license to practice optometry
  • A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics
